Welcome to Fourth Grade!
The 4th grade presents many educational opportunities: We develop reading skills by focusing on comprehension, clarifying meaning of unknown and multiple meaning words, summarizing, problem/solution, and author’s purpose. Some of the novels we read are: Lewis and Clark, Little House on the Prairie, Charlotte’s Web, Stone Fox, and Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing. Students participate in the Missouri Conservation poster contest and the Optimist Club-Say No to Drugs contest.
We explore the Show Me State through field trips to Missouri Conservation Day, Missouri Day at NWMSU, and Eagle Day at Squaw Creek Refuge. The culmination of this unit is an exhibit of student research on Missouri.
We strive to be good faithful servants of the Lord giving of our time, talents, and treasures by taking on roles at weekly Mass, pairing up with younger students to read and model positive behavior, and reciting the rosary monthly. Our religious focus is on the Ten Commandments, Sacraments, and the rosary.
Showcase Missouri will take place on November 12. Parents are asked to drop students off at the Leitner Room that morning between 7:30-8:00 a.m. for set-up. Our “Showcase” will be open for viewing from 12:00-2:15 p.m. We hope you will be able to stop by.
