What’s new in the BIG K!

Categories: Kindergarten

Dear Parents,

We are so excited for you to come in this week for conferences!! We spent some time decorating and tidying up for you.  Please remember we have 15 minutes to look at the classroom, share our work and talk about our grade card!

Please watch for a special post on Facebook Monday evening as one of our own kindergarten students did a great deed of Doing the right thing, Treating people right and Living like Jesus!!

This last week we completed our first trip through the alphabet!! We now know all of the steps for starting our letters and writing them correctly.  We make continual loops through the alphabet during our school year please ensure your child is writing correctly at home.

In some of the pictures below we are really focusing on the power of words. We practiced giving nice compliments to our letter partners with a stand up, hand up, pair up, activity.  Once we found our partner we took turns saying nice words to one another. This is something we do constantly and any time you can reinforce this at home it only makes life in our classroom easier.  Please be mindful of the “more is caught than taught” phrase from earlier as our children often hear us as parents on the phone or talking to one another and then they bring that conversation into the classroom.

I hope everyone was able to see the flyer for Red Ribbon Week. It was attached to Mrs. Stiens reminders email. There is lots going on that week so please take a minute to check through everything.
