First Grade Flash September 5, 2019

Categories: First Grade

Dear Parents,

The first graders are doing an amazing job learning the routine and procedures in our classroom. I am so proud of them!

The skills that were reviewed in Reading class were short i, double final consonants, sequence of events, parts of a book, high-frequency words and comprehension questions.

Please review adding doubles with your children. The students will have an assessment on Friday, September 13th in Math class. Also, please have your children practice their spelling words. They will have a spelling assessment tomorrow.

I am sending home “A Bug’s Life” performance task tonight. It will be due on Monday, September 30th. If you have any questions, please contact me anytime.

Please have your children read “Come Down, Flag!”, “Flip” and “Guess What!” this weekend. It is important to discuss the stories with your children. This will enhance their comprehension skills.

I would like for the first graders to bring a picture of themselves between 3 years to 5 years of age for “Share and Tell” tomorrow.

The students need to bring 7 or 8 books each week to read during their free time in class. It is awesome to see your children reading during their free time.

We will be going to meet our new Falcon Families tomorrow.

I hope to see you at Our All School Mass on Sunday, September 15th at 10:30 a.m.

Have a great weekend!

Sue Seipel
