First Grade Flash August 29, 2019

Categories: First Grade

Dear Parents,

The first graders are a great class! The students have many special talents and gifts they share with each other on a daily basis. They have marvelous manners and show kindness to everyone.

The skills that were reviewed in Reading class were short a, oral vocabulary, word wall words, verbs with s, sequence chart, sequence of events, rhyming stories, labeling, letter identification and comprehension questions.

The first graders will be going on various study trips this year. I will be needing people to drive the students to the various places in our community. All of the volunteers are required by our diocese to attend the Protecting God’s Children meeting.

Please have your children read “I Am a Big Kid”, “How You Grew”, and “Birds Get Big”. Please discuss the stories with your children.

Please review the words that were introduced in kindergarten. I will be assessing the students next week. Also, review adding doubles with your children. They will have their first math assessment on Friday, September 13th.

I would like for your children to bring 5 or 6 books each week to read in the classroom! It is very important to encourage your children to sound out words.

Please send socks with your children, if they wear shoes without socks for PE class.

The students need to bring something from God’s world for “Share and Tell” on Friday, August 30th. (tomorrow)

Please place your child’s book order tomorrow.

Thank you for your support. Your children are a true gift from God.

Have a wonderful long weekend! Enjoy Labor Day!
