I want to thank you all for entrusting your children with me this year. I thoroughly enjoyed teaching them this year. I also want to thank you all for your support this year. It was great to feel so supported and know that we were able to work as a team to help the second graders.
A couple of things to remember for the summer… please have your children read. I saw a statistic the other day that stated that children who do not read in the summer can lose two to three months of reading skills and kids who do read tend to gain a month of reading proficiency! This is often refereed to the summer slide. Please don’t let your children slide backwards. Also, please have your child work on their addition, subtraction, and multiplication facts this summer. This will help them to feel even more confident going into third grade.
I have sent home packets to help with these things for the students to do over the summer. If your child completes these and turns them into me when school starts in the summer I will have something special for them. Please encourage them to do these packets.
Thanks and have a great summer!
