Stay up to date with all that’s happening at St. Gregory’s!

What’s new in the BIG K!

Categories: Kindergarten

Dear Parents,

A big THANK YOU!! for all of the support of Hope for Harvey! We were able to raise over $500 just by wearing hats to school! We also had a wonderful turn out at crunch for a cause!!  And we beat our goal of selling football tickets our school can’t run without you! On Thursday afternoon we had a prayer service led by our Student Ambassadors.  We made cards to be sent along with our donation.

I hope we can see everyone at all school Mass on Sunday! We will be sitting together as Faith Families.  A bright blue invitation came home on Thursday.  On the back each person’s Faith Family teacher’s area was circled.  Please use this to help your child find their Faith Families or come see me and I can help them get to their Faith Family.

This week we will focus on our sense of sight, muscles, organs, and bones! We will have Delta Dental as a special guest on Tuesday morning!

This week we will continue with our alphabet letters: N – R. We will also start new sight words : I, see. For show and tell this week please bring in something you use for your eyes eg. sunglasses, safety glasses, magnifying glass, goggles, ect.

Please make sure you are reading the letter books that are coming home.  As we are getting half way through the alphabet and getting lots of books a great place to keep a few are in the car.  With all of the running around this time of year sometimes it feels like we spend more time in the car than at home. So if you have a few books in the car the kids can still work on their reading skills.  The class has a good grasp of capital letters so now adding in lowercase is great! At school we teach that handwriting, like reading, is a whole body process; eyes for watching, hands for doing, mouth for saying the steps, and ears to listen for the steps.  Please encourage your child to tell you the steps as they are writing!

I will leave our Show and tell Schedule for a few weeks. The students must bring something that fits in their backpack.  If not please send a picture or video to Mrs. Parman.  If your student wants to bring something that is alive arrangements must be made with Mrs. Parman first. Each week your child can bring something in to share with the class on his or her day only.

When your child’s name appears please provide a light snack for all 12 students.  When it is your child’s birthday I will place their name as snack that day as most students choose to bring in birthday treats. Remember you will just need to provide something to eat as we will provide the afternoon milk that you paid for in your registration.  Please remember to try and make it a healthy snack fruit, veggies, crackers, ect.  Each day the students will get a napkin but if your snack requires spoons or forks you will need to provide those along with your snack.  Our snack is scheduled for the afternoons so if it is your day you can either send it to school with your child that morning or drop it off sometime that day as long as it is at school by 1. Thanks, Mrs. Parman
