Missouri Day at Northwest!

Due to doctor’s orders, I am not able to go to Missouri Day this year. I am all but put on bed rest! So I was told that would be way too much walking and activities. THERE IS GOOD NEWS….. I have already talked with some of the presenters and they have agreed to come and talk to the kids after I return in January! So the kids will have their own presentation in our classroom! Stay tuned for more information.

Monthly Book Reports

Thank you for your help with the September book reports! The kids did an amazing job. It is really nice to see their creativity shine!

October Book Report due Thursday, October 30th. I ask that they students have their book Ok’d by me at some point this next week. I check for reading level, page amount, etc.

November Book Report Due Tuesday, November 25th

January Book Report due Friday, January 30th

February Book Report due Friday, February 27th

March Book Reports due Wednesday, April 1st

April Book Reports due Friday, May 1st

Conferences

Thank you a million times for scheduling your conferences early with me! I very much appreciate your willingness to be flexible.

Attention parents of students who had conferences Monday or Tuesday. I am not sure where my brain was because I told you the wrong cut off date for the 1st quarter. I don’t know why, but for some reason I told you that it was the week of Halloween….. it is not! LOL! It is actually the 9th. If you have any questions regarding your students’ grades, please let me know. Again, my apologies!

DOT Pumpkin Patch

Permission slips for our trip to the Dot Family Farm Pumpkin Patch for October 9th.  Our rain date is October 17th.  We are inviting parents to join us.  However, because we have so many students in the kindergarten through fourth grades none of the parents will be able to ride the bus.  Parents joining us are more than welcome to carpool and follow the buses out to the Pumpkin Patch. I will be driving myself, so you’re welcome to ride with me if you like. Please let me know if you are planning on joining us. Remember you have to already have the Protecting God’s Children class in order to join us!

Stocktoberfest
St. Gregorys is helping to restock the food pantry shelves as families in need prepare for the upcoming holidays and winter months. Please send items starting October 1st through the 30th. Classes will compete based on food weight divided by the number of students. The class with the highest amount will win a pizza party sponsored by the Maryville Pride Lions Club, valued at $100!!!!!!! Money is accepted also ($1=1 pound). For every dollar raised, the Maryville Pride Lions Club will equally match up to $400!!!!

The 4th graders are in charge of bringing all brown items: beans, brown rice, gravy, oatmeal, peanut butter, coffee, pancake syrup, applesauce, apple juice, Jell-O pudding, cereals, brown sugar, vanilla, tuna, cake or brownie mix, the list goes on and on.

Return Trips to Get Forgotten Homework
With the end of 1st quarter near, I thought I would mention the schools policy when it comes to students returning for forgotten homework. After speaking with Mrs. Martin, it’s only fair to not allow students back in the building (after 3:15) for forgotten assignments, books, or homework. She explained it to me in a way that makes sense – SACC students are not allowed to come back to the classrooms, so it’s only fair to hold the non-SACC students to that same accountability. I have talked with the students regarding this, so they are aware as well.

Just a reminder, there is no school Friday!
