Welcome to Physical Education!


The mission of the Physical Education program at St. Gregory School is to produce well-rounded individuals through regular physical activity, emphasis on sportsmanship, and positive social interactions. The goal is to create a positive learning environment to encourage maximum participation. The curriculum is designed to develop skills and fitness to foster confidence, self-esteem, and moral character. Students are tested using the Fitnessgram program to track progress on the the health related components of fitness.

The students in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade participates in physical education four days a week for a minimum of 30 minutes. The curriculum is set up in such a way that between every unit is a fitness week.


The students in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade also take part in the American Heart Association sponsored program Jump Rope for Heart. The program consists of students raising money to benefit the American Heart Association. The program encourages students to be physically active and eat properly in an effort to minimize the risk of contracting a cardiovascular disease.
