Please see the note from our Silent Auction Committee for our Holiday Fun Fest coming up in December:
Dear Parents, The Holiday Family Fun Fest and Silent Auction are quickly approaching on December 3rd! For your participation in the Silent Auction, we are asking each student to contribute $5 – the Silent Auction Committee will use this money to put together a variety of baskets, family fun nights, etc. Or if your family prefers to donate an actual item that could be auctioned off, that is great too! Any donation is greatly appreciated. Please turn in your child’s $5 or item to the office marked Silent Auction by Friday, November 17th. Thank you! The Silent Auction Committee
A service project that we will be working on in December is our annual Kindergarten/Fourth Grade Bake Sale! All of our proceeds are donated to Toys for Tots! This has become a great fund raiser for our classes! The sale dates will be December 14th and 15th before and after school. I will send home more details once the event gets closer, but we will be asking each student to donate a baked good for the event.
Thank you so much to Brett and Sylvia Chloupek for sharing some customs from Slovakia before Vilhelmina leaves for Slovakia with her family. We were amazed that Slovakians do not have Thanksgiving like we do. We were also interested to hear how Slovakians have carp, potato salad and sauerkraut soup for Christmas dinner. We were impressed that they shoot off fireworks for new years because it is also their independence day! We look forward to Skyping with Vilhelmina while she’s in Slovakia. We can’t wait to hear and see different parts of Slovakia while we learn about their country!
This week we will review all sight words we have studied to this point. We will also not have a “Kindergarten classroom” but we will be working in a Native American village! We will be talking about Native American culture as we prepare for our a feast with the first graders who are Pilgrims. We are also excited to hear from Marla Burnsides on Monday, November 20th. She will present information about Native Americans to us! During our math times we will be practice measuring, using logical reasoning, +0 math facts, and covering a design with pattern blocks.
On Thursday this week we will attend Eddie the Eagle’s Gun Safety presentation to preschool – 4th grades.
For show and tell please have your child tell us what their favorite Thanksgiving food is! Who makes it? What is the recipe? Do you have a picture of your child making or eating their favorite food? Please send it in! This will be our last full week of school and we will not have show and tell next week.

When your child’s name appears please provide a light snack for all 12 students. When it is your child’s birthday I will place their name as snack that day as most students choose to bring in birthday treats. Remember you will just need to provide something to eat as we will provide the afternoon milk that you paid for in your registration. Please remember to try and make it a healthy snack fruit, veggies, crackers, ect. Each day the students will get a napkin but if your snack requires spoons or forks you will need to provide those along with your snack. Our snack is scheduled for the afternoons so if it is your day you can either send it to school with your child that morning or drop it off sometime that day as long as it is at school by 1. Thanks, Mrs. Parman
