Thank you for all of your support in completing your child’s ABC book about themselves! They were so excited to share their book with the class! We added some pictures to the front and will keep the books in our classroom to read for a few weeks.
We have had WONDERFUL donations in our class Stocktober Fest box! Thank you so much and keep up the great work! Please see the flyer attached to Mrs. Stiens weekly reminders email for more information.
This week we had fun with a Leaf Man project. We listened to the book Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert. We were fascinated that the illustrations were created by natural materials. Then between the rains collected leaves to create leaf people. We will use these leaf people to write a sentence about where our leaf person will go. We also studied positions ( first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, ect.) by riding on a class train. We also watched a video from our FORMED subscription about St. Francis. There is a great video library for youth that does have lots of Brother Francis videos as well as great information for mom and dad. If you have not had a chance to utilize this website please let me know and I can get you the information.
This coming week we will finish our leaf person project with our sentence, study letter sounds for letters E-I. We will add the sight word; my to our studies. We will also complete our first quarter assessments that we will discuss at parent teacher conferences in a few weeks. Please note that when we have parent teacher conferences these are student led conferences where the students will come to the classroom with you to share the work they are doing, what they are doing well and what they would like to work on. We will also be discussing individual goals that your child will choose to work on for the next quarter. The conference will last 20 minutes. A schedule will be sent out from Mrs. Stiens in a few weeks so please keep an eye out in your inbox. Sign up is via sign-up genius. This coming week we will also begin our first math facts. We will begin with the doubles 0+0=0 thru 5+5=10. We will learn a fun rap to help us remember these very important foundation math facts. In case you have not noticed the apples on our math pages we have used them to start talking about our left and right, getting more apple seeds and now we are writing these as math fact sentences!!
For show and tell please have your child bring in or email in a picture of your house. We are getting ready to start learning our home phone number and address. Thank you!

When your child’s name appears please provide a light snack for all 12 students. When it is your child’s birthday I will place their name as snack that day as most students choose to bring in birthday treats. Remember you will just need to provide something to eat as we will provide the afternoon milk that you paid for in your registration. Please remember to try and make it a healthy snack fruit, veggies, crackers, ect. Each day the students will get a napkin but if your snack requires spoons or forks you will need to provide those along with your snack. Our snack is scheduled for the afternoons so if it is your day you can either send it to school with your child that morning or drop it off sometime that day as long as it is at school by 1. Thanks, Mrs. Parman
